This is a very popular place to live and visit because of its unique culture, atmosphere and attractions. The population is approximately 1,339,100 with fifty-six percent being Hispanic. There is no Free Will Baptist church located in San Antonio, Texas. The Baileys have five children - Carra, Crista, Calyn, Caleb, and Carson. Jeff and Sondra Cates, along with daughter, Alyssa, are planting a Free Will Baptist church in Canyon, Texas. They are Joint Project home missionaries with the state of Texas and the Home Mission Board. Jeff is coming to Home Missions from the pastorate at Primera Iglesia Bautista Libre in Weslaco, TX where he has served since 2001. He is a graduate of Free Will Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral/Missions. He formerly served as co-pastor of the Ashland City FWB Church in Ashland City, TN. The largest city in the Texas Panhandle is Amarillo which is only twelve miles from the canyon area where the new church will be established. The Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in the US. This general area is also the home of the American Quarter Horse Association. Jeremy and Jill Lightsey are coming onboard as joint project home missionaries with the state of Texas Free Will Baptist Home Missions. The Lightseys are following the Lord’s leading to plant a Free Will Baptist church in the San Antonio area. Jeremy is a graduate of Hillsdale FWB College with a Bachelor’s degree in Theology/Pastoral Training. This is the seventh largest city in the nation; the second fastest growing city of the nation’s top ten cities, and has shown the third largest population increase in the nation since 2000. Jeremy and Jill have two daughters – Adria and Hope. Please pray for this family as they embark on this mission for the Lord. Randall and Collette Wright and their children, Joshua, Rebekah, and Leah are going to North Dallas, Texas, to plant a Free Will Baptist church. This is a combined effort with the State of Texas and Free Will Baptist Home Missions. The Wright Family comes to Home Missions from serving on staff at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Kinston, North Carolina for the past five years. Randall and Collette have also served in youth ministry and two pastorates. Randall earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and Pastoral Theology from Southeastern Free Will Baptist College, and is currently working on a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies at Liberty University.
The Dallas/ Fort Worth population has grown by nearly 1.3 million since the last census in 2000. It is the largest metropolitan area in Texas, the largest in the South, and the fourth largest in the United States. Dallas also has been the fastest growing metropolitan city in the United States for the past few years. Please pray for the Wrights as they begin this new work.
